Hi there. I've got you covered. I'll discuss possible reasons why your employees didn't receive deposits that you've made in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Before anything else, may I know your deposit funding time? If you're not aware of this, a deposit funding time determines how many days in advance of your paycheck date you need to send your payroll for us to process. These are the different funding times in QuickBooks Online Payroll:
Same-day: Workers are paid the same day you send your payroll to us.
Next-day: Workers are paid the next banking day after you send your payroll to us.
2-day: Workers are paid two banking days after you send your payroll to us.
5-day: Workers are paid five banking days after you send your payroll to us.
Now, if you're using direct deposit, here are a few possible reasons why your deposit wasn't able to go through your employee's account:
An employee's bank account information was recorded incorrectly
There's a problem with the employee's bank.
The pay date happens on a weekend or holiday.
The direct deposit payroll was submitted after the cutoff time which is 5 PM Pacific Standard Time. When this happens, the payroll will be processed on the next banking day.
In case your situation falls on the first two reasons above, know that the funds will be rejected and returned to your account. This process usually takes 2-3 business days after the pay date.
If the issue persists, and your employee still did not receive the funds by 5 PM after the settlement date, I recommend reaching out to our Customer Care Team. This way, we can further investigate and do a direct deposit trace. See this page for more details: Contact Payroll Support.
Additionally, I'll be leaving these articles to help you handle deposits in QBO:

Employee deposits weren't in our bank for more than 2 days. They went in today, but I was never given an explanation of why it happened. I spoke to several people by phone and email and still no explanation.
