You can use the Back Calculate NI feature in QuickBooks Online Advanced Payroll to correct overpaid National Insurance contributions for your employee, battle1.
This allows you to recalculate the employee's NI contributions for the current tax year if they were previously reported with an incorrect NI category to HMRC.
Here's how to do it:
Navigate to the Payroll menu.
Go to the Pay Runs tab and select the specific pay run for your employee.
Click the arrow icon next to the employee's name.
Choose Actions, then Back Calculate NI.
From there, enter the correct NI category and the relevant date range.
Select Calculate to view a breakdown of the original and new NI contributions.
