HI KCM,

You'll need to contact HMRC to verify the reason of the rejected submission. This will let us review and resubmit your VAT return in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Let's also make sure you've set up the VAT settings correctly. Here are the steps:

  1. Go to Taxes.
  2. On the VAT page, click on the Edit Vat drop down and choose Edit Settings.
  3. In the Edit Vat settings window, review and enter the correct all the information.
  4. Click on Save once you're done.

Then, contact our QuickBooks Payroll Support since they have more tools to change the filing status and help resubmit your return.

Here's how to get in contact with them:

  1. Go to Help and click on Contact us.
  2. Enter your concern and select Let's talk.
  3. Choose either Chat or Call us.

The following article will guide you on submitting the return: Submit a VAT return to HMRC - MTD for small businesses.

I'm also linking an article in case you need to know if your VAT return is correct.

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions. I'm here to help. Have a wonderful day.
