You can add temporary tax details for the employee under the Tax Information section in the employee profile, makingmomentum.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to Payroll and select Employees.
  2. Find the employee's name and click on it.
  3. Under Tax Information, click Edit.
  4. Leave the NI number blank and choose a Starter Declaration.
  5. Enter a temporary Tax Code and, for the NI letter section, choose X-NO NI (U16 or tax exempt).
  6. Select the Tax Calculation Method.
  7. Click Save.

I also recommend consulting an accountant or tax advisor, as they can provide expert advice on how to properly handle situations like this to ensure compliance with HMRC regulations. They can also guide you on any exemptions or special requirements for employees under 16.

Alternatively, you can contact HMRC’s Helpline  directly, as they can clarify the next steps and provide details about reporting requirements in your situation.

You can also read about understanding your employees' tax codes to get an overview of what you need to know and do for their tax codes.
