I have an automated payroll journal that debits and credits the same account. I would like to remove 2 of the rows of the journal to stop this happening. Can you explain how to do this please,=.

Hi rcummings, thanks for reaching out on the Community today. You can manage the accounts that the journal posts to in QuickBooks Advanced Payroll by navigating to the Payroll Settings > Chart of Accounts.

To edit the journal after it has been published in your books, open the journal (use the search function or go to the account history of the payroll account to locate the transaction). On the journal, select the trash icon on the right-hand side to delete a journal line.

For proper guidance on creating and handling journal entries, it's advisable to consult an accountant. If you don't already have an accountant, you can find a QuickBooks-certified advisor near you on our online directory
