Question

has anyone else experienced a problem with payroll where your employees are set up for direct deposit but when you run payroll it reverts to "check"?

I've been doing payroll with these employees for years with direct deposit, and coming out of the same business account.

I recognize how unexpected it can be to see your direct deposit switch to a check, Whitney. QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll processes payroll based on the payment method set up in each employee’s profile.

Since you’ve already verified that they are set up with direct deposit, I recommend contacting our Payroll Live Support Team. They have the necessary tools to investigate why the direct deposit reverts to check.

Here’s how:

  1. Click on the Help icon.
  2. Select Search, then choose a topic.
  3. Click Contact Us.
  4. Type your concern in the "What can we help you with?" box, then click Continue.
  5. Under "How would you like to connect with us?", select Chat with us, Schedule an appointment, or Request a callback.

For information on their available hours, please refer to this article: Get help with QuickBooks products and services.

Also, you can reach out to them directly through their website. Just select your QuickBooks product, then click Continue.
