How do I set up a wage garnishment in dedcutions. It nees to be an after tax deduction and the drop down only allows a percentage of gross pay not net pay

While there isn't a dedicated wage garnishment option as a deduction type, you can set it up as Other after tax deductions. However, the calculations available are Flat amount, Percent of gross pay, and Per hour worked.

 

Since you prefer it to be calculated as a percentage of the net pay, a workaround is to select Flat amount and set the amount to $0. You'll have to manually calculate it based on the net pay, so you can edit the garnishment before finalizing your payroll. To do so, click the icon beside the net pay amount in the Preview payroll page. 




For accurate calculations and to ensure this approach meets your business needs, I recommend consulting with an accountant.
