It's exciting to hear that you're working with a new client and that you're bringing them into the QuickBooks Online family. I know it can be a challenge to come from another product, such as Quicken, and to figure out how to get the data from there to here. I'd be happy to go over the options so that you and your client can get started.
When it comes to switching to QuickBooks Online, some software can use a migration process to transfer the data from one program to another. When there isn't a migration option, such as in this case with Quicken, often the solution is to manually import the data or start fresh in the file.
What Fiat Lux mentions about converting the Quicken data to CSV files is useful, even if you don't then use a third-party tool to import the data. QuickBooks Online has a number of options for manually importing data using CSV file types, which you can learn more about from our article Common questions about importing data to QuickBooks Online if you're not already familiar with the options.
As Fita Lux also alluded to, it's possible to use third-party services to import data. These can be apps that link directly with QuickBooks Online using the Apps tab, or it could be other services outside of the program. Feel free to do some research into what's available to find what works best for you and your client.
Finally, there's always the option to start fresh. For instance, you could enter customer, account, supplier, and other details, and enter opening balances where possible. This is a bit of extra work, but will still give you and your client the opportunity to work in the program.
I wish both of you the best with bringing their data over! If you'd like, you're welcome to submit feedback about the available options to let our product development team know your ideas of how they could be changed. I know folks like yourself might work with clients that come from a variety of other software options, and having a smooth conversion process can make a big difference. Here are the steps to sharing your thoughts: How do I submit feedback? I also invite you to bookmark our QuickBooks Online Feature and Product Updates page, where you can learn about the new additions to the program.
Enjoy your day.
