Question

ROE for rehired employee

The issue I am inquiring about this time is specifically related to E-Filing an ROE for a rehired employee.

Even though I have entered the correct rehire date in the employee information, QuickBooks Desktop still recognizes the previous ROE on file and prompts me to amend the old ROE.

However, this is a new period of employment, and I need to submit a new Initial ROE, not an amendment. Because of this prompt, I am unable to proceed with E-File.

Could you please advise how to resolve this issue so that the ROE can be submitted as a new Initial ROE?

Hi DAVID0369, thank you for the details you have provided.

You can check your employee's previous employment record and rehire details to ensure there are no conflicts that might prompt QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to request amendments to the old Record of Employment (ROE).

Please ensure that the rehire date does not fall after the last day of work recorded on the original ROE. If the rehire date is the same as the last day worked, QuickBooks may interpret it as continuous employment rather than a new hire, leading to errors.

Additionally, confirm that the employee's status has been updated correctly in the payroll system.

Once you’ve verified there are no conflicts in the employee's record and the issue persists, please make sure you are using the latest version of QBDT and the most recent payroll tax table to maintain system compatibility.

If the issue persists after completing these updates, it may be related to the system itself. In that case, I recommend using QuickBooks Tool Hub to fix common system-related problems.

Please let us know if you require any additional help.
