I appreciate you reaching out here, Contact199. Mismatched user details in your QuickBooks and ATO profiles can cause unexpected errors when connecting both programs.

These two portals should have the same setup within the QuickBooks GST and ATO settings, including your ABN, Software ID, and lodging frequency, in order to successfully connect and lodge your BAS.

To check your GST settings:

  1. Navigate to GST from the left menu bar.
  2. Click on the Settings icon and select Tax settings.
  3. Verify if your lodging frequency for GST and PAYGW matches what the ATO has.
  4. Make the changes, and click on Save.

To review your ATO portal settings, you can log in to the ATO business portal to check your activity statement. This will provide clarity on any changes to your obligations and ensure you’re aligned with the ATO’s expectations for lodgement.

On top of that, you can verify the software ID in the ATO Access Manager. The ATO needs to recognise the specific ID that QuickBooks uses to send data. To guide you, refer to Option 2: Login to Access Manager in this article: Connect QuickBooks Online with the ATO to enable direct BAS lodgement.

However, if the error persists, I suggest exporting the BAS report from the QBO GST option and lodging it directly to the ATO.

I’ll be on this thread for any additional queries you may have.
