Hi mocollett1,

I'm glad you reached the Community for help. Let's get this sorted out so we can resolve the error message that you're getting.

Are you getting the error message when opening QuickBooks? If so, it's possible that a webpage issue is preventing you from doing this since QuickBooks uses Internet Explorer as the default browser.

In this case, let's try configuring your Internet Explorer by following the steps below:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. From the Command Bar, select Tools and choose Internet Options.
  3. Within Internet Options, select the Security tab.
  4. Add *.intuit.com to trusted sites.

    • Click Trusted Sites.
    • Within the Trusted sites window, un-check Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.
    • In the Add this website to the zone field, type: *.intuit.com.

Note: It is recommended that you remove all other websites in reference to intuit.com from the list of websites, as *.intuit.com will cover all Intuit sites.

  5. Close the Trusted sites window.
  6. Uncheck Enable Protected Mode.
  7. Close Internet Explorer.

Keep me posted on how things go once you've tried the steps. I'm always here to help.

Have QBooks 2020 using win 8.1... Script errors and nothing works .  Spent over 4 hrs going thru steps with QB tech last week.   They finally said they think win 8.1 does not support a higher level of dot net needed .

Using a win10 PC all works fine and ccard processing is normal as it prev was with my win 8.1 PCwhen using QBooks 2017.    Are you aware that apparently QB2020 and merchant processing are incompatible with win 8.1.    I need to use main machine for QB2020 that is win 8.1 but can not now .   Using the laptop win10 machine is not an option.   Win 8.1 machine can not support win 10 upgrade.   Requires a new PC.

Any suggestion.     BTW QB was called to confirm win8.1 is compatible b4 we purchased and they said yes.  All other processing works ok but doing merchant processing never works and script errors.   I can not even sign into merchant center using win 8.1 qbooks.   I am really thinking it is some much more basic to allow win 8.1 and merch svcs to work with qb2020.

Hi there, h777.

I appreciate the steps you've performed with our tech support. With regard to the compatibility of QuickBooks Desktop 2020 and merchant processing using Windows 8.1, you can check System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2020 and Enterprise Solutions 20.0 that contains information about the operating system, hardware, software, and other requirements to run QBDT.

I've also added some links to learn more about QuickBooks Desktop 2020:

Feel free to post again here if you have any other concerns.

i have been getting the error as well. @JaneD your steps to fix did not work.

i did the settings, restarted qb and still got the error. It is happening when the "Do More With Quickbooks" window is loading and stops. Attached is screen shot.

Mine is showing a URL of https://a166211981.cdn.optimizely.com/client_storage/a166211981.html and going to that website and viewing the source shows me data for quickbooks/intuit.

I receive the same error message as MrDistro, and the fist poster, when Quickbooks 2016 is opening company file.

Script Error
Line 7
Error: Unable to get property 'length' of undefined or null reference.
code 0
URL https://a166211981.cdn.optimizely.com/client_storage/a166211981.html

If you were able to get it resolved, What were the steps you took with Intuit via phone call?  Sharing them would be beneficial for me and possibly others.

I have added *.optimizely.com and *.intuit.com to the trusted sites and switched "Default App" to chrome.  Running on Windows 10.

Thank you for any assistance you could provide.

Thank you

QuickBooks printer not activated error code 20 is encountered when the HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\Software key is deleted.

Causes:

  •  Elimination of HKey_Currenr_Config\software.
  • More than one version of Quickbooks.
  • When Quickbooks is not compatible with the PDF  driver.

Thanks for following this thread, SSolved.

I’m here to help make sure you can use the printer smoothly. We’ll have to download and run the QuickBooks Tool Hub to get past the error. Let me walk you through the process of how to accomplish this task.

Here’s how:

  1. Make sure to close your QuickBooks.
  2. Then, download the latest version of the QuickBooks Tool Hub (1.5.0.0) and click Save File.
  3. Open the QuickBooksToolHub.exe link.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
  5. Next, double-click the icon on your desktop to access the tool hub.
  6. From there, go to the Program Problems menu on the left panel to select the QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool.

Once done, open any transactions and print them. If the issue persists, perform Solutions 2- 4 in this article: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop.

For additional resources, the following guide contains some links on how to: Troubleshoot Issues with Printing and .PDF Files. Make sure to choose the topic to see the complete details.

Feel free to post a comment below if you have other printing concerns. I’m more than happy to assist further. Have a great day ahead.

Hello All,

I own a copy of QuickBooks Enterprise 16 and have faced the same frustrations as you.  I do NOT work for Intuit.  The following has worked for me:

In QuickBooks on the menu bar click HELP>Internet Connection Setup>Next>Advanced Connection Setting>Security (tab)>Restricted Sites>Sites. In the "Add this website to the zone:" paste or type just this part of the url address the error message is complaining about, such as cdn.optimizely.com, as an example. Click Add>Close>OK>Done.

Logoff QuickBooks and then log back in. The script error message will no longer appear.

This can be used for all script error messages when opening QuickBooks. I have encountered several. They all seem to be connected to "User Experience Enhancement" (aka User Tracking) that are not functioning correctly. Blocking them does not affect the software....other than to block some pop-up ads Intuit may try to send.

You can answer YES or NO to get past the script error message if you are not bothered by it and do not want to take the above action. It does not affect QuickBooks one way or the other.

Exactly, never ALLOW, always BLOCK. See my original step-by-step.

I recommend that you always BLOCK and send these out-of-date content delivery networks (CDNs) to the restricted list.

Technically, if you allow the "defunct" CDN address, you could get a cross-attack if a malicious force takes over that CDN address and injects bad code, like data-stealing code, virus, etc.

This not only affects Quickbooks but other Intuit programs like Lacerte, etc.
