Can I install QuickBooks desktop 2018 that is a windows version, onto my Mac laptop

I have QuickBooks desktop 2018 on a windows tower.  But I'd like to have access to the files and do business away from home with my Mac laptop.  Can I install it on the Mac or do I have to purchase a new program for the Mac? And if I do, can I have access to all the files as if I am using it on the same computer?

The Windows version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) is not compatible with Mac laptops, @Kath2018.

 

Please know that as of September 20, 2024, QBDT for Mac is no longer available for new users. Currently, QuickBooks offers only QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise for Windows. Since you mentioned wanting to access your files from outside your home, you might find QuickBooks Online a good option, as it is also compatible with any operating system.

 

To keep your business documents safe in QBDT, ensure to back up your files. This way, you can restore your accounting data whenever you need to.
