I am trying to upgrade my QuickBooks Pro 2018 to the 2020 edition (both 2 user).  I was following the instructions online:  Step 1 was to install the new version, while step 2 was to rebuild the company files first.  I can't revert back

I do have a backup copy from my 2018 version.  Since I did not do the rebuild first, where do I go from here

Welcome to the Community, wally3.

Upgrading your QuickBooks Pro 2018 to 2020 is quick and easy. Since you're able to install the new version, let's restore and update your 2018 backup file.

Here's how:

  1. Click File at the top menu bar and choose Open or Restore Company...
  2. Select Restore a backup copy then click Next.
  3. Then select the Local backup and hit Next.
  4. Locate the saved backup copy and click Open.
  5. When you're ready, select Save. If you see any messages about possibly overwriting your data, select the option that best fits your needs.
