I was planning to purchase a Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 with Snapdragon X Elite processor. Would Quickbooks desktop be work with a Windows ARM device? Or is it not supported? I understand with a MacBook it can work through Parallels but was wondering if anyone had success with getting it to work on a Surface Laptop 7 with Snapdragon

Thank you for reaching out regarding your interest in running QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) on your Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 with a Snapdragon X Elite processor, @AdamP4. Here’s some information on this matter.

The Snapdragon X Elite uses an ARM-based processor, while QuickBooks Desktop typically requires Windows systems with Intel or AMD processors. This architectural difference may lead to compatibility challenges. Although Windows 10 and 11 can emulate x86 applications like QuickBooks Desktop, this emulation might affect performance, causing tasks to run slower or some features to function less effectively.

We recommend verifying compatibility by checking QuickBooks Desktop's system requirements to ensure the software will meet your business needs.

After verifying that your computer meets the system requirements, you can proceed to install the software and store the installation file in a suitable location. Also, ensure that you keep your product and license number readily available.

If possible,  you run a test QuickBooks Desktop on a Surface Laptop with a Snapdragon processor before committing to the purchase. This can help assess performance first-hand. You can download the 30-day trial of QBDT to assess performance. Please note that we currently only offer the QBDT Enterprise 2024 version. QuickBooks Desktop requires a 64-bit Windows operating system and will not function on 32-bit systems.
