Question

When a customer I am doing contracting work for is sending me a request for W9 details, it just goes to an error instead of letting me fill them. How can I avoid this?

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, @JLaw20. Let's figure out what happened to the link so you can fill out your W-9 form.

Since you received an invitation from your employer and an error occurred when entering your W9 information, it might be expired. You can ask them to send the link again. After that, you can follow the steps below to fill out the form and submit it to your employer:

  1. Open the invitation email and select the link.
  2. If you already have a QuickBooks Self-Employed account, select Sign in. If not, create a limited QuickBooks Self-Employed account.
  3. Go to the Clients tab.
  4. Follow the steps to fill out and submit your W-9.
