There are several reasons why you're unable to connect your VAT MTD to HMRC successfully, David. Allow me to help you resolve this.
Before we proceed, can I ask if you’ve received an error message during the process? This will help us provide the most effective solution.
To begin with, one possible reason is that your MTD connection has expired or become unauthorized. This can happen if the link between QuickBooks and HMRC is no longer active. MTD connections automatically expire every 18 months for security purposes.
To resolve this, we’ll need to disable the MTD feature and reconnect QuickBooks to HMRC using the correct MTD credentials.
Here's how:
Go to Sales and select VAT.
Click Overview, then hit Edit VAT dropdown.
Select Edit settings, then Turn off MTD.
Reconnect QuickBooks to HMRC using the correct MTD credentials.
However, if none of these errors match your connection issue, I suggest reaching out to our Live Support team. They can investigate this further and offer additional troubleshooting steps and timely solutions.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, feel free to reach out anytime. We’re here to help!
