To sign up for Making Tax Digital (MTD), you'll need to use a compatible version of QuickBooks Online (QBO) that supports MTD, Chantel.

For now, QuickBooks Self-Employed is not compatible with MTD requirements for income taxes as this version is primarily designed for very simple self-employment income and expense tracking. You can check out the HMRC website for more information.

Alternatively, you'll also want to upgrade to QuickBooks Online if you need MTD for income tax compliance. This version is an HMRC-recognised software that offers the features needed to meet these requirements, including digital record-keeping, quarterly updates, and year-end submissions.

Here's an article for a step-by-step guide: Upgrade from QuickBooks Sole Trader to QuickBooks Online.
