Click the Gear icon, then select Account and Settings.
Go to the Sales tab.
Click the edit (pencil) icon on the Products and Services section.
Tick (✓) Show Product/Service column on the sales form, Track quantity and price/rate, and Track stock quantity on hand.
Click Save.
Click Done.
Once you're ready to add stock products, you can follow the steps in Step 2 from this article: Add your stock products.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO) South Africa version, there are four item types: stock, non-stock, services, and bundles. We use the stock as an equivalent for inventory.
Since mihai mentioned that he only saw Non-Stockable items and Services, we can try some basic troubleshooting steps to bring back the Stock item on the Products and Service.
Let's start by accessing your account through a private browser or incognito window. This is a good place to start the troubleshoot since this type of browser doesn't store cache.
You can refer to the following keyboard shortcuts below:
Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
Safari: Command + Shift + N
Try adding a stock item to test it. I'll show you the steps below:
Go to the Sales menu and select the Products and services tab.
Click New.
Select Stock.
Enter the necessary information and click Save and Close.
If it works, go back to your original browser and clear the cache to make sure your browser functions more efficiently. Otherwise, you can try other supported browser to help narrow down the cause of this behavior.
