How to change the invoice number to start with a customer number

I'm here to help you change the invoice number in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You have the option to utilize the Custom transaction numbers feature in QBO to establish your preferred numbering sequence. All you need to do is to turn it on in the settings.

Here's how:

1. In QBO, go to the Gear (settings) icon at the top right.
2. Select Account and settings.
3. Choose Sales, then click anywhere within the Sales form content section.
4. Turn on Custom transaction numbers.
5. Tick Save, then Done.
6. Go to Sales and pick Invoices.
7. Open an invoice and select Edit invoice or Create invoice to create a new invoice.
8. In the Invoice no. field, enter the custom number or letter sequence you want to use for your forms. The sequence you set here applies to all sales forms.
9. Hit Save or Save and close.
