Question

How to set up QB when trading as different names? I want to invoice separately as well as account for sales and costs by trading name.

Hi peter10,

 

If you're using the QuickBooks Online PLUS version and if the business or different trading name is under the same ABN number you can use and add location in QuickBooks Online to add different trading names on your sales form. Here's how:

 

To turn on the location:

 

  1. Click on the Settings icon, and click on Account & Settings.
  2. Click on the Advanced tab.
  3. Click on the Edit option in the Categories section.
  4. Tick the box to add locations, and click on Save.
  5. Click on Done.

To add a location:

 

1. Click on the Settings icon, and click on All List.

2. Click on Locations.

3. Click on New, and enter a Name.

4. Then, tick the box to customize the sales form:

 

  • The location has a different title for sales forms.
  • The company has a different company name when communicating with customers.
  • The company has a different address where customers can send payments.
  • The company has a different email address for communicating with customers.

 

5. Click on Save.
