getting message that says I can only use one foreign currency per transaction

everything is in my local currency - no other currency involved

Although everything appears to be in your local currency, QuickBooks is detecting a second currency assigned to a specific profile or account in the transaction setup.
 

Could you share a screenshot of the error message and the page where it occurs? This will help us identify exactly where QuickBooks is finding the currency mismatch.
 

Also, I recommend trying to recreate the transaction in a private/incognito window or another supported browser to see if the error persists.
