Hi! I want to add COGS account to non inventory items but quickbooks online no longer show COGS account in the dropdown

Hi there, mat9. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I’d be happy to help you figure out why the COGS account isn’t appearing in the dropdown for non-inventory items.

First, you’ll want to check your Chart of Accounts to see if there’s an existing COGS account set up. If the account exists but is tagged as Inactive, this would explain why it’s not showing up.

To resolve this, you’ll just need to make the account Active again in your Chart of Accounts.

If there isn’t a COGS account already in place, you’ll need to create a new one. Once set up, you can assign your non-inventory items to that account.
