Welcome to the Community, Colita. To clarify, are your invoice payments being deposited into a bank account when they should be posted to a different account (such as Allowance for bad debt), or are you trying to write off an unpaid invoice as bad debt?

If payments are going to the wrong account, you can change the Deposit To account in the Receive Payment section. Simply select the correct one, like Allowance for bad debt if needed. QuickBooks Online remembers your last selection, so you may need to update it.

If you're unsure whether this is the right approach for your situation, I recommend consulting with your accountant to ensure you're recording this transaction correctly for your books.

On the other hand, if you’re looking to write off an unpaid invoice as bad debt, you can find step-by-step instructions in this helpful article: Write off bad debt in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, you can view this helpful article on how to properly record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online: Record invoice payments.

Should you need more guidance with payment allocations or writing off invoices, the Community is here to help.
