Question

How do I delete 'tax' from invoices? The options to edit it in invoice and in settings are both missing. All clients are not taxable. How do I fix this?

This is from the newest update. The option to turn sales tax on or off is missing from settings. I can't edit content from my custom invoices, even though the 'pencil' icon is there. I've double checked and no clients have the taxable option on, but sales tax is appearing on all invoices.

Let me help you update your sales tax settings, HHMF.

You can turn off this feature from the Sales Tax menu, not in the QuickBooks Settings or within the invoice. Here’s how to turn off your Sales tax so you can remove tax from your invoices:

    1. Open your QuickBooks account.
    2. From the left menu, select My Apps.
    3. Look for the Sales Tax tab.
    4. Click Sales Tax settings.
    5. On the Sales Tax settings page, click the Turn off sales tax button.
    6. Click Turn off.

Please note that once you disable it, you’ll no longer add sales tax to new transactions. It won’t affect past transactions, and your tax agencies are inactive. For your previous invoice transactions, you can manually edit each invoice and deselect the tax checkbox in the tax column.

If you don’t see the Turn off sales tax button, please ensure that you’re logged in as the Company Admin or Primary Admin. Only these roles have full access to edit tax settings and turn sales tax on or off.
