The date on my invoices comes up with the day first/month second. How do I change it to month/ day as we write it in the U.S?

You can change the date format by going to the Gear icon. Select Account and Settings / Advanced / Date Format under Other preferences. 

Be aware though, this format will also change how dates show in your registers also as well as other parts of QuickBooks Online.
