The origninal creator of the account is no longer at our company and we would like to update the owner listed without losing all of the transaction data.

    Hello, pswords101.

Thanks for joining us here in the Community. I'm happy to lend a hand so you're able to update the owner of the QuickBooks merchant account.

To update the owner on a QuickBooks merchant account without the current owner present, you'll need to submit a formal request to the Support Team to change the Primary Admin. This process requires legal documentation, such as a death certificate, divorce decree, or sale of business agreement, to prove authorized ownership. Here are the steps to get this done:

    1. Gather Required Documentation: Prepare documents proving you have authorization, such as Articles of Incorporation, a bill of sale for the business, or a court order.
    2. Submit a Request: Because you cannot sign in to the current owner's account, you must contact QuickBooks support to initiate a "Primary Admin" transfer.
    3. Use the Form: Fill out the Request to be the primary admin form provided by support, uploading the necessary documents.
    4. Verification: The Intuit account protection team will review the documents and process the change.

It's worth noting, if the current owner is still reachable, it's faster to have them follow the standard steps to invite a new admin, then promote that user to Primary Admin in Settings > Manage Users. The following article provides additional info about changing or updating the Primary Contact on your QuickBooks Account.
