Can a primary admin create a budget by class vs actual report? I am trying to create a budget by class but in vain.

Yes, you can create a Budget vs Actual report by class as a primary admin, info2266.

To get started, you'll need to enable the Track classes feature. Please note that this functionality is exclusive to QuickBooks Online Plus or Advanced subscriptions. If you are currently using QuickBooks Online Simple Start or Essentials, consider upgrading your plan.

Follow these steps to turn on the Track classes feature:

  1. Go to Settings, then select Account and settings.
  2. In the Advanced tab, scroll down to Categories.
  3. Toggle the Track classes feature on.
  4. Hit Save, then Done.

Once done, create a budget by classes. You can refer to Step 2: Create your budget in this article: Create or import budgets in QuickBooks Online.

Next, let's run a Budget vs. Actual report, which allows you to view the Budget by class vs Actual report.

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Under the Standard reports tab, type Budget vs Actual report in the blank field.
  3. Filter to the Report period you need.
  4. In the Budget dropdown, select the Budget_(Name of your Budget) P&L Classes.
  5. Hit Run report.
