Question

Can I allocate a % of paid salaries to projects instead of only tracking hours? Looking to split costs by project.

Yes, you can allocate a percentage of paid salaries to a project, Mariana. However, this will depend on the pay type used for each employee.

Before you proceed, ensure that the project-tracking feature is enabled in your account and that you've created the specific project you want to track.

Then, update the employee's profile to confirm their Pay Type is set to Salary. This will allow you to allocate a percentage of their salary to each class or project.

Once ready, assign projects to your employees’ paychecks. To do these:

  1. Navigate to the Payroll menu and select Employees.
  2. Click on Run Payroll.
  3. Create your paychecks, then choose Edit Projects.
  4. Enter the specific percentage allocated to each project, ensuring the total adds up to 100%. Once completed, click Confirm.
  5. When you're finished, click Preview Payroll and select Submit.
