The error you encountered occurs when the payment is applied to the wrong invoice or exceeds the expected invoice balance, Orville.

 

Before we continue, could you please confirm whether you are using a third-party app or the QuickBooks API to sync payments into QuickBooks? If so, you can contact our Intuit Developer Support for more information.

 

If you're recording the payment without using API or any payment processing tool, ensure that the payment you're expecting corresponds to the invoice and refers to an account designated as either Bank or Other Current Asset. This way, the amount will be recorded in QuickBooks. Please refer to the screenshot below:
