Question

Can i create a subaccount with a different currency? For instance, I have a parent account as Directors Loan and two sub accounts in Niara and Usd.

In QuickBooks Online, a subaccount adopts the currency of its parent account. You cannot assign a different currency to a subaccount. The workaround is to create individual, standalone accounts in your Chart of Accounts and group them visually with clear names.

Set up a parent-level account for Directors Loan - NGN and assign Nigerian Naira (NGN) as the currency. Establish another parent-level account for Directors Loan - USD and assign USD. Please note that when creating each account, select Current liabilities as the account type to choose a currency.

For more information about adding more accounts in QuickBooks Online, check out this link:  Add an account to your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know if this setup helps you organize your Directors Loans effectively. If you run into any issues setting up these accounts or need help tracking the balances, just let me know, and we can walk through it together. Have a great weekend.
