I have a corporation tax liability of 13K, it is appearing as an expense above the profit figure. I want to show it below the profit figure. Please explain.

Liability accounts will not appear on your Profit and Loss (P&L) report, as this only reflects income and expense accounts over a specific period. They show on your Balance Sheet instead.

Since your Corporation Tax appears above the profit, it is likely due to the account type and detail type used when setting up the category. To achieve your goal, categorize it under the Other Expense. Here's how:

  1. Go to All Apps, then select Chart of Accounts under Accounting.
  2. Locate your corporation tax account using the search bar for quick access.
  3. Click the dropdown arrow next to Run report or View History in the Action column, then select Edit.
  4. In the panel that opens on the right side. Modify the Account Type to Other Expense and change the Detail Type to Other Expense.
  5. Once done, click Save.

When you re-run your P&L report, you will find the tax listed at the bottom under Other Expenses. Since modifying the account type affects how the figure displays on your management reports, I recommend asking your accountant or tax advisor to confirm the correct setup.
