Yes, you can add numbers to your customers and suppliers using your QBO login access. Other users you have shared access with can also do this, as long as their user role has permission to access customers and vendors.

Since QuickBooks has no built-in feature for customer and supplier numbers, you can use Custom Fields for customers and Notes for suppliers as a workaround. Here is how to do it for customers:

  1. Go to All Apps, select Customer Hub, and click Customers & Leads.
  2. Select the customer you want to add a number to.
  3. In the Custom Fields option, click the Pencil Icon and select Add new custom field.
  4. Add a Name (e.g., "Customer Number"), and select Text and number from the Data type drop-down menu.
  5. Tick the Customer option in the Select Category section.
  6. Check the boxes for any forms where you want this number to show up.

Once done, click Save. This field will now appear whenever you create a transaction.

For Suppliers, go to All Apps > Expenses and Bills > Suppliers. Select the supplier, click Add notes, and you can type their number in the Notes section.

Regarding your second concern, are you referring to the accounts in your Chart of Accounts (COA)? If so, you can turn on the Enable Account Numbers option to add serial numbers.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Account and Settings.
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. Scroll down to the Chart of Accounts section and click Edit.
  4. Turn on Enable Account Numbers and click Save.

Once enabled, a Number column will appear on your Chart of Accounts page where you can add your serial numbers.
