Yes, you'll need to pay for both companies even if they are under the same name with the same subscription. If the other company is still under free trial and you don't use it, you can cancel it before the free trial ends so you won't be billed the next month. Please know that if you cancel within the 30-day trial, you can still access your company until the next billing date. After that you only have a read-only access for a year.

To cancel, you can follow the steps below:
 

1. Sign in to the company you're not using.
2. Click the Gear icon and choose Subscriptions and billing.
3. In your QuickBooks plan section, choose Cancel.
4. Follow the on-screen steps.
