Question

It is not possible to have a parent account with subaccounts in Naira and USD? If it is not possible for the Online Version, which version supports this.

In QuickBooks Online, both a parent account and its subaccounts must use the same currency. This is because the parent account sums the balances of its subaccounts to provide a single total.

If different currencies are mixed, such as USD and NGN, the system wouldn't know how to add them together, since exchange rates change every day. This rule applies to all versions of QuickBooks, including Simple Start and Advanced.

To manage this, you can create two separate parent accounts, one for NGN and one for USD. Each parent account can have its own set of subaccounts. As long as you have Multicurrency enabled (available in Essentials, Plus, and Advanced), QuickBooks will automatically handle the conversions back to your home currency, ensuring your overall financial reporting remains accurate.
