When you end up with duplicate employee accounts in QuickBooks Desktop, it's usually because the email the employee used for QuickBooks Workforce doesn’t match what’s in QBDT. Find the account that’s wrong and doesn’t have any payroll history, then delete or set it as inactive.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the top menu bar and select Employees, then click on Employee Center.
  2. Find and click on the duplicate employee name from the list on the left.
  3. Right-click the employee's name & select Delete Employee.
  4. Click OK to confirm the permanent deletion.

 

Update the remaining account with the correct email address, and resend the Workforce invitation.
