The error that you're getting usually shows up if the user ID or password is incorrect for the specific account you’re trying to connect. I'll share the steps with you on how to resolve the error in QuickBooks Online.
Here's how:
Go to your bank’s website in a web browser window.
Sign in with the user ID and password you have to check if the credentials are correct.
If you can log in successfully, it means that the user ID and password are correct. If you get a sign-in error, follow your bank’s instructions to get your user ID, reset your password, or both.
Once done, complete the process by following these steps:
Go to the Banking menu and proceed to the Banking tab.
Look for the bank account and click Edit ✎.
Select Edit sign-in info.
If your web browser auto-fills the user ID and password fields, remove them and manually type in the login details. This ensures your browser doesn’t put in old info by mistake.
I'd be glad to help ensure you're able to edit your sign in info, Pamie0627.
The Edit sign-in info will be visible if you're connected to your bank's website. If you're importing CSV files in QuickBooks Online, you can only access the Edit account info option.
You can edit the sign-in info through bank's website or ensure that the account is connected to online banking. Here's how:
Click Banking on the left menu.
Select Connect from the landing page, or select Add account if you've already created an account.
Search for your bank. You can connect most banks, even small credit unions.
Click Continue, then enter the username and password you use for your bank's website in the pop-up window.
Select the bank account that you want to connect and the date range for the download.
Hit Connect.
Once connected, you'll be able to see now the Edit sign-in info option.
Once imported, I recommend editing, assigning, and categorizing your transactions. Also, you can match them to the existing entries in the software. Just go to the For Review tab from the Banking menu. Doing so will help you ensure the accuracy of your financial records.
I'm always here to help if you have any other concerns or questions. Just tag my name in the comment section and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
