Question

Any idea how to resolve previous missing transactions? I had to delete my existing bank connection as it wouldn't connect. All transactions pre 90 days have disappeared?

You can recover your missing transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) by reconnecting your bank account and manually importing older transactions using a CSV file from your bank, Leila.

Before we proceed, can you tell us the name of your bank and if you encounter any error messages when connecting? Knowing this will help us troubleshoot potential issues with your bank connection.

Please note that deleting a connected bank account in QBSE removes all associated bank transactions, including those you have already categorized.

To recover lost transactions, you can reconnect your bank account, then download older transactions from your bank as a CSV file.

After that, import it into the program. Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks Self-Employed in a web browser.
  2. Go to the Gear or Profile icon and select Import transactions.
  3. Click Import older transactions for the account you want to add transactions to.
  4. Select Browse and find the file you downloaded from your bank.
  5. Look for the file and select Open to start the import.
  6. Review the column headers and data. Make sure the Date, Description, and Amount columns on the CSV match the columns and order in QuickBooks. The other column headers can be in any order.
  7. Click Continue to complete the import.

It's important to note that deleting an existing bank connection is not the best way to resolve a connection failure in QBSE. The appropriate way to resolve this is:

  1. Check your bank's website for maintenance or updates.
  2. Verify that your bank credentials (username and password) are correct.
  3. Manually refresh the bank connection in QuickBooks settings.

Doing so will prevent you from encountering high risks like data loss within your QuickBooks account.
