Currently, the QuickBooks Solopreneur mileage tracker still shows the 45p rate because the standard mileage rate is hardcoded in the software. Our team is currently working on a system update to roll out the new HMRC changes for the 2026/2027 tax year. As a result, there isn't an option to manually change the tracker rate.
While we work on getting this updated for you, here's how you can manage your mileage in the meantime:
If you are billing clients for mileage, you don't need to use the mileage tracker. When creating your invoice, add a new line item (e.g., "Mileage Travel"), enter your total miles in the Qty field, and manually set the Rate to £0.55.
For your tax deductions, you can let the app continue to track your total miles driven. Once the software updates to the 2026/2027 rates, it will automatically apply the new 55p rate to your logged trips for this tax year. Alternatively, you can log your vehicle costs using the Actual Costs method (entering receipts for fuel, MOT, and insurance) instead of the simplified flat rate until the update is live.
