Welcome to the QuickBooks family, @photography. I've got information about the start date of your QuickBooks Online account.
The Company Start Date in QuickBooks is a flexible date that users can use to begin monitoring their accounting data. It's not required to be the company's founding date. Thus, we still advise speaking with your accountant about this.
If you refer to modifying the beginning of your financial year, we can do so in the Settings. This will also affect the dates in your report, which will also change. To view the data from your prior financial year, you can enter the dates you need since your data won't change.
Here's how:
Go to the Gear icon and select Accounts and Settings.
Choose the Advanced tab and click on the Accounting section.
Choose the month you want to be the first month of the fiscal year.
You can also utilize this reference to learn what you and your accountant need to do in the program to close out the previous year and prepare for the new one: Year-end guide for QuickBooks Online.
I'll be more than happy to answer any other questions or concerns that you may have in the future. The Community is always here to have your back. Wishing you and your business continued success.
