Question

I am a sole trader using essentials. Not vat registered so do I really need to carry on paying £38+vat when sole trader is £16. Is the difference with paying suppliers?

Hello there, Keith97.

I’d like to clarify your query regarding the payment for your current QuickBooks Online (QBO) Essentials subscription.

To begin with, yes, you still need to pay £38 + VAT with your QuickBooks Essential as it is subscription-based, and each resubscription includes a 20% VAT.

In addition, the £16 you mentioned is for QBO Simple Start, while the subscription for a Sole trader is £10. QBO Simple Start does not include the feature for managing bills; only QBO Essentials, Plus, and Advanced offer that functionality. This is why there is a price difference between QBO Simple Start and QBO Essentials.
