It's nice to have you here today. I can share some insights about the error message you're getting when updating QuickBooks.
You'll normally get this error when the program is unable to connect with the internet, using incorrect browser and incompatible security settings. These instances may interfere the updating process. To get past the problem, follow the steps below to review your Internet Explorer settings:
Open Internet Explorer on your computer.
Go toTools, and select Internet Options.
From the Security tab, click the Globe icon and make sure the security level is no higher then Medium-high.
Go to the Connections tab, select Never Dial a Connection if you do not use the dial-up node (DUN) on the system, or select the correct ISP if you do.
Hit OK.
Pick LAN Settings, then make sure the automatically detect settings is selected, and check whether Use a Proxy Server checkbox is clear.
Select Ok.
From the Advanced tab, select Restore Advanced Settings, and, under Settings, locate Use TLS 1.2, and verify it is selected.
That should rectify the problem. I'm just a post away if you need further assistance or encounter any issues along the way. I'll be glad to help you anytime. Have a good one!
I appreciate your efforts in performing the steps to update your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) account, @bmwplumbing. I'm here to share with you some additional information about this.
QBDT 2010 is already outdated. Users with this version may not enjoy the latest available features and updates. Thus, it's one factor why you can't update your account.
As of now, you can consider upgrading your QuickBook account to the supported versions (QBDT 2019, QBDT 2020, and QBDT 2021).
If you don't need the add-on services, your product will continue to work for you for tracking purposes. However, you'll not be able to enjoy the online services and subscribe to live technical support or any of the other Intuit services that can be integrated with QuickBooks Desktop.
