Question

moved from self employed to sole trader and finding the new app a lot more complicated. What catagory do I use if I pay myself from the business account into personal?

You can use anything that is related to Drawings, Owner's Drawing, or Partner's Distribution in your category selection list to handle the transaction within QuickBooks Sole Trader.

If you don't have the option in your list, you can create a new category to fit the transaction recording. To start, go to the Menu icon and then select Bank transaction. Locate the transaction and then click on it to access the details section. You'll then click the Category section and choose a Category type. Enter the name of your custom category and then click Save once done.
