Question

Quickbooks have told me my bank account is about to lapse and I need to reconnect, but it won't allow it. Every time I try, it says an error has occurred.

Is anyone else having the same issues?

Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention, Ric. Let me help you restore your bank connection in QuickBooks Self-Employed so you can get back to managing your business.

Before we proceed, I'd like to ask the name of your bank and the exact error message you’re seeing. These details will help us provide the most accurate guidance.

From what you’ve described, it seems like you need to reconsent your bank connection in QuickBooks. Accounts using Open Banking require reauthorization every 90 days to comply with regulations. For detailed guidance, you can refer to this article: How to reconsent your bank feed connection in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

If reconsenting doesn’t resolve the issue, I recommend disconnecting and reconnecting your bank account to refresh the connection and ensure transactions sync correctly.

Before proceeding, please ensure to categorize all your existing transactions to prevent duplicates during the reconnection process. Then, follow these steps below:

  1. Head to Transactions and select Bank transactions.
  2. From the New transactions dropdown, click Manage connections.
  3. Find the bank account you need to disconnect, then select the ⋮ icon, and choose the Unlink option.
  4. Select Unlink now to confirm.

Once done, let's reconnect your account to the system and reauthorize your bank.
