What QB Desktop country version? US, UK, Canadian or else?

    Where is your company located?

Before we begin, may I know what version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) you are using? If you are using QBDT 2012 or older, you must first update your file to an intermediate version, such as QBDT 2014, before upgrading to the current version. Since QuickBooks no longer hosts these legacy versions, you must purchase or acquire them from a retail vendor.

You may also consider exploring third-party software solutions designed to upgrade legacy QuickBooks files.

Please note that the latest version of QBDT is only available in US and Canada. A company file can't be opened in another region's QuickBooks Desktop version.

Please let us know if you require further assistance.

QuickBooks version 8.1 - file from an old computer.  No longer have a different old computer that used to have QuickBooks 2002 on it, which I believe might be required to step through to get to a more modern version.
