QuickBooks Online notifies you when you have been inactive for an hour or up to 3 hours before the system automatically logs out of your session. If you want to further customise the inactive session notification period, you can submit a feature recommendation to our Product Development Team.

You can follow these steps to change the inactive session notification period:

  1. From the Home page, click Settings (gear icon) in the upper-right corner and select Account and settings.
  2. Go to the Advanced tab and scroll down to the Other preferences section.
  3. Click Edit and change Notify me if inactive for to 1 hour, 2 hours, or 3 hours.
  4. Hit Save to update the setting.

After updating the setting, your session will automatically be logged out after the selected period of inactivity.
