Hi,

My business model needs QB with Advanced Inventory and I do not want to upgrade past 2017 - Is it possible for me to legally purchase Quickbooks Desktop with Advanced Inventory from 2014-2017 from someone else and transfer their licence to me?

Thank you,

Bruna

Hi there, Bruna.

Yes, it's possible to find someone who sells a QuickBooks Desktop license with Advanced Inventory from 2014 to 2017.

However, even if you acquire a valid license key and product number from the seller, QuickBooks Desktop requires online activation to function. Since the 2014-2017 versions were retired servers years ago, Intuit officially stopped supporting and providing activation codes.

Moreover, there are a few conditions under which Intuit allows users to sell and transfer its QuickBooks Desktop license to you.

The owner requires filling out and sending the “Transfer a License” form to be reviewed by Intuit. Once the form is submitted, they'll be notified about the QuickBooks license transfer request through email within 24 to 48 hours.

When purchasing a license from someone else, you'll need to consider these circumstances where Intuit permits the original owner to change the ownership of QuickBooks Desktop:

  • If a business is sold to a new owner. Including all the assets and accounts.
  • In case a user is donating the software to a non-profit organization
  • Incorrect user information is filled during the product registration.

Note that the license owner can also request Intuit to transfer ownership by logging into their CAMPS account and completing the QuickBooks Transfer License Form.

In the case of acquiring a business license that includes all associated assets, both the seller and the buyer must complete and sign the QuickBooks Transfer of License Form (TOL). Additionally, you are required to submit a Notarized Bill of Sale that has also been signed.

Let me know if you have additional questions. We'll assist you promptly.

@brugaf

I'm not sure if you can still reinstall QB Desktop 2017 Enterprise with the Advanced Inventory add-on module.. You can use the trial version of QB Desktop 2021 with Advanced Inventory feature as a workaround.
