Question

ALL Business Income transactions from prior years are missing from account and reports. Seeing the same in iOS, too. Ideas? Others? Can QBSE restore these?

Hoping the community has ideas. If not, one thing that would help: If QBSE can restore from backup, will it erase all data from that date forward, or can they restore just income transactions, for example? Thanks, all!

Can you tell us whether you're seeing a specific error message on the web or in the iOS app? Also, could you share the name of your bank and whether these transactions went missing right after importing them into QuickBooks Self Employed (QBSE), or if they're already-existing business transactions in your account? That'll help us narrow this down.

QuickBooks Self-Employed doesn't have a traditional backup and restore function, and any historical data restoration attempts using general QuickBooks methods will overwrite your data instead of merging specific categories like income. Because QBSE is a cloud-based software, it does not save local backup files that you can selectively roll back or merge.

In the meantime, let’s check the Date filter first. Here’s how:

  1. Go to your Transactions tab and look at the date dropdown menu.
  2. Then change it to All or select the specific custom year.

If these are existing bank transactions inside your account, you'll need to refresh the bank accounts. Here's how:

  1. Navigate to Settings, click Manage Accounts.
  2. Select Refresh all to force a server-side sync.

Additionally, the missing transactions might have been categorized already. To verify:

  1. In the Transactions tab, make sure to set it to show All types.
  2. In the Account section, select your bank and choose the date for the transaction you want to access.

If the transactions are truly gone from the account, your best and safest option is to manually import them. This process adds missing lines without affecting or erasing your current data.

Keep us posted in the comments if you have additional queries.
