Question

Checks entered are not posting

Wondering if anyone else is having problems in QBO today June 17 2025. I entered a check then went to match it to the bank feed transaction but the check didn't come up as a match. I next searched for the check number to see if I might have mistyped the amount; the check number didn't appear in the search results. When I tried to enter the check a second time, it alerted that the check number already exists and I entered the duplicate anyway. I then went to the check register and there is both the original check and the duplicate.

Weird enough, but then the client calls me and says the same thing is happening to him when he's entering checks. He can't find the check after he's entered it. His checks are not appearing in the check register though. He has to handwrite the check.

It's end of day so I'll go back in tomorrow to see if this magically self-corrects. It doesn't help the client hates QBO and we've encouraged him to pony up the costs of using it for both of his businesses because "it's a better platform."

We appreciate your effort in finding the match for the entered check in the bank feed transaction, @Swordbooks.

You can consider entering the check's description or amount in the search box instead of the check number to locate it in QuickBooks.

When this method cannot find any match for the check, one possible reason is that your browser's stored cache slows down your browser's performance which could affect the loading time of data in QuickBooks.

In the meantime, let's clear your regular browser's cache to remove the excessive webpage data that's causing the issue.

Alternatively, you can use other supported browsers.

If the issue persists even after doing the steps above, I recommend contacting our Live Support team so they can have this issue checked with their tools. Here's how to reach them:

  1. Go to the Help icon, then select the Search tab.
  2. Click Contact Us., then pick Using QuickBooks.
  3. Choose either Chat or Callback options.

It's important to note the availability hours of our supports to get connected with them successfully.

Also, I've included an article to assist you in effectively categorizing transactions in QBO and ensuring that your accounts consistently align with your bank and credit card statements: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Please know that I'm post away if you need further assistance with your checks in the bank feed in QuickBooks. Don't hesitate to reach out.
