I have loaded our Quickbooks onto my Microsoft Surface Pro, everytime I open on of my Company files a copy of it goes on to my desktop, I end up with dozens of them.   How do I stop this from happening.

Hi, CTD1. It sounds like your QuickBooks Desktop  (QBDT) might be set to create a backup of your company file automatically. You can check if this option is turned on and disable it.

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the File menu and select Back Up Company.
  2. Click Create Local Backup and then choose Local Backup before clicking Next.
  3. Select Only schedule future backups, then click Next.
  4. Verify if the box for Save backup copy automatically when I close my company file is ticked.
    • If it’s enabled, untick the box to stop the files from saving every time.
  5. You can adjust the number next to this option to control how often QuickBooks automatically saves a backup copy when you close your company file. For example, it might currently be set to save a backup every 1 time the file is closed.

However, if this setting is already turned off but the issue persists, it’s best to contact our Live Support team. They can securely check your account and recommend a targeted solution:

  1. Navigate to the Help menu, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us
  2. Use the Search questions, keywords, or topics field to enter your question or the topic you need help with.
  3. If you don’t get the answers you need, select Contact Us to connect to an expert for help. You can choose between getting a callback, or chatting with us.

If you have more questions or more details, please feel free to add them to this thread. I'll be glad to help out again.
