Question

Cursor Placement

When receiving payments, why does the cursor start out on "show existing" tab at the bottom of the screen instead of the "choose a customer" field at the top.  Choosing a customer is LITERALLY the first thing you have to do.  If you are trying to avoid using your mouse for a smoother workflow, you have to hit the Tab button 12 (12!) times to get to the customer field.  And then after you select "save and new", you have to hit it 12 more times again.  My QBO was not like this last week.

What helped me in the meantime was clearing the cache and cookies. That sometimes resets the tab sequence to the old pattern. If not, try switching browsers (Chrome to Edge or Firefox) or using the desktop app version, the behavior can differ there.

A few folks in our office also automated parts of this using small browser scripts, but that’s more of a workaround than a fix.

Thanks Robin, I appreciate the response.  I've tried all of those options already and nothing seems to work.  I feel like it's a glitch because any other form I bring up that has a 'save and next' option, the cursor goes back to the correct field.  It's super frustrating and completely interrupts my workflow with an additional 12 Tab presses.

Thanks for getting in touch with the Community, LittleTimbers.

I can certainly understand how an ability to change where the highlighted area begins on your Receive payment screen could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.

You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Gear icon.
  2. Go to Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Select Next.

Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates page.

I've also included a detailed resource about receiving payments which may come in handy moving forward: Record invoice payments

I'll be here to help if there's any questions. Have a great Friday!

Thank you.  I've already submitted feedback on the issue.  I'm just not sure why they would change something like that.  It makes zero sense and it completely interferes with my workflow.  In looking through all the questions about this, I haven't found one response on how this is beneficial.
